Twin boosters flank the Core Stage and provideover 75%of launch thrust during the critical first two minutes of flight. NASA upgraded from 4-segment Shuttle boosters to a new design for SLS — which one?
4-Segment Booster
The classic Space Shuttle booster design. Reliable, but less powerful.
5-Segment Booster
A longer, upgraded booster with extra propellant for SLS's heavier payloads.
